Abstract
Since the introduction of the Br¡Æanemark Dental Implant System to the dental profession, many new concepts and designs have evolved to improve osseointegration and to simplify procedures. The Tenax Dental Implant System is one of these innovative systems and was recently introduced in Korea. This one-piece, one-surgery system has a unique combination of four characteristics. First, the fixture has a sintered porous coating which allows for bony ingrowth and three dimensional interlocking with bone thus enhancing osseointegration. Second, this press-fit fixture is installed by gentle tapping into an appropriate osteotomy and not by complicated thread cutting and screwing in of fixtures. Third, the abutment-fixture connection is conventional cementation. And fourth, the fixture can be prepared for aesthetic control. These characteristics allow for easy and simple application in daily dental practice.. Not much improvement has been achieved in making implant posts and crowns since the conventional two-piece implant abutment and crown method was introduced,. This conventional method of making implant crowns frequently requires complicated impression technique and laboratory work. This often results in incorrect fitting not only between the fixture and the implant abutment but also between the implant abutments and the crowns. To make prosthetic work in implant dentistry more precise and simple, a single structure of abutment an crown together can be made by using the newly introduced Tenax Dental Implant System¢â with gold, Sinfony¢â, or any kind of conventional porcelain. The prosthetic aspects of the clinical use of the Tenax Dental Implant System will be presented.
